Aubeterre sur Dronne 15 minutes from Les Chauvins, it has been officially listed as one of « The Most Beautiful Villages in France» since 1993.
At the foot of the village, where the meadows meet the River Dronne, there is a river beach , with areas for pick-nicking and an outdoor bar/restaurant.
There is a canoeing centre, and tennis club.
In the village there are boutiques for present shopping, a variety of bars and restaurants and The Underground Church of Saint Jean (definitely worth a visit).
25 minutes from Les Chauvins has a famous market on Friday mornings, it is easily the biggest and best for food, presents etc. Riberac also has a good range of bars and restaurants.
Brantôme 40 minutes from Les Chauvins. Its natural beauty, market, cafe culture, and river make it one of our favourite places in the Dordogne. Friday, the bustling market day, is the best day to visit, combine a little shopping with a canoeing adventure on the river and a look at the artisans blowing glass! Have a picnic under the trees at the riverside park, or lunch at one of the numerous cafes.
